A Town Councillor described as “committed” and “hands on” has stepped down from her position. Camelford Town Council learned of the resignation by Jenny Finch at their meeting on 20 January 2015. Mrs Finch has been a Councillor on and off for 11 years, serving as Mayor in 2005/06 and 2006/07.
In a letter to the Council Mrs Finch cited health concerns as the reason for resigning, but remained supportive of the work of the Council and indicated that her involvement in initiatives such as flowers and events may continue. She stated “It is with a heavy heart I feel I must resign my place. I will continue to support and help as much as possible and I would like to wish the Council all success with future projects.”
Cllr Andy Shaw, Mayor of Camelford, said in response to the news “We are sorry to see jenny having to retire for personal reasons, and I understand them. We will be losing a valuable member of the council; she was a very hands on councillor and actively involved with the successful spring fair and the senior citizens Christmas party. She was also very committed to the tidying up of Camelford’s ‘forgotten areas’. I will be sorry to see Jenny leave the council, and wish her all the best for the future.”
The resulting vacancy on the Council will be advertised in the town in due course.
