We are pleased to announce that the new Camelford Health and Wellbeing Hub project has taken huge steps forward. We can now confirm that the Camelford Health and Wellbeing Hub will be in the same location as the existing medical centre accessed through Churchfield car park. In the first instance, the hub will provide a replacement medical centre and dentistry services, with a dental suite. It is hoped there will also be a pharmacy and a new and improved waiting area. The Council will also need to purchase the glebe land strip between the medical centre and the church and this is currently being looked into.
Negotiations have begun with the current GPs as the medical centre is a privately owned business. Discussions are also taking place with Cornwall Council, and we are working with different groups to ensure that the hub is fit for purpose and so have been discussing with these working groups what people want and what people need.
This project has been granted £750,000 from NHS England. Mayor Cllr Rotchell said “This is a huge step forward. I’ve been involved with this project for 12 years and in the last four months we’ve moved forward more than 11 and a half years. There is a sense of urgency now, so we are not talking about 10 years off.”
We hope to be able to share sketch plans within the next few months.
