We are delighted to report that Camelford Town Council were successful in their bid to SITA Cornwall Trust for a grant to build a new skate park. The skate park is also being funded by Camelford Town Council and s106 monies from Cornwall Council. We anticipate that work will start on site early June and for it to be finished at some point during the Summer holidays. We are awaiting a Funding Agreement, but once that is received and signed, it will be all systems go! Freestyle Skate Parks will be building the skate park, with groundworks being done by local contractors.
This all follows public consultation last year at the Camelford Show, a “Meet the Designers” visit, and visits to Sir James Smith’s Secondary School and Camelford Primary School where children had a chance to look at the designs and make suggestions.
In partnership with The Town Trust, who have kindly agreed to lease the land to us, we have a big vision for the Old Cattle Market site. Our hope, if Phase 1 (the skatepark) is successful, is to redevelop the whole area but again this is subject to further discussions and funding.
Excited by this vision?
We are looking for volunteers (children and adults) to create a Skatepark Club, which will help support this vision by way of fundraising and publicising the work we are doing – even if that means just sharing our posts on social media! If you are interested, please get in touch with Amanda (firstname.lastname@example.org) to get involved and keep updated.
