OCM SKATE PARK CLUB
The first skate park club meeting was held on 16 August and was extremely well attended. A vote took place via Instagram and Facebook during the weekend on the name of the skate park club and it was unanimously decided to call it the “OCM Skate Park Club” which stands for Old Cattle Market and connects to the heritage and rest of the site development. Roles were also decided at this meeting, and we are delighted to report that the following people will be taking on the following roles:
Ayla Johnson – Chair (and main contact with Mount Hawke)
Lucy Lawler – Treasurer
Kristie Sturtridge – Secretary
Leah Coshall – Website/social media development
Aaron Hockerday – Fundraising/grants
OCM Skate Park Club are partnering with Mount Hawke Skate Park who will help the club engage our young people and provide expert advice on running a skate park. This is all part of an initiative “Skate Cornwall” to recognise Cornwall as a major skate boarding destination. We will link in with competitions around Cornwall and have access to their challenges, to try and encourage progression in skate boarding, scooter and BMX skills. We are delighted with this partnership which will provide much needed guidance and support.
If you would like to join the OCM, either as a junior member (under 18) or adult member (over 18s) please contact Ayla Johnson – AylaJohnson@hotmail.co.uk or call 017428 747421.
