Enfield Park is going to get a makeover thanks to the Great Western Railway (GWR) Customer and Communities Improvement Fund (CCIF) Grant of £35k secured by Camelford Town Council. In addition to this much needed boost in funds, money was received from local housing development (Cornwall Council) and matched funding by Camelford Town Council have meant that this much loved park will get much needed new equipment, whilst celebrating and promoting the heritage of Camelford Station, which was once part of the historic North Cornwall Railway line. Station signs will be incorporated into the play experience to depict the journey from Halwill Junction to Padstow (finishing at the boat) There will also be an installation of photographic and information boards, giving information about the history of Camelford Station and the railway line, with a link to more information for adults wishing to know more.
After going to public consultation, Wicksteed was chosen as the company to design and install the new equipment. CTC are hoping works will start in October 2019, finishing in time for October half-term. CTC is working with Wicksteed on ensuring that as much of the equipment as possible is wheelchair friendly and encourages participation from those less abled.
