At their meeting on 1 May 2014 the Council discussed the article about Camelford which featured in the Mail on Sunday on 20th April 2014. Below is the response of the Council:
DISCUSSED the implications of an article entitled “Village of the damned” published in The Mail on Sunday on 20 April 2014. The Council felt that the incident was a tragic accident 25 years ago, and that now precautions have been put in place to prevent it happening again. The Council felt that the article, while understandably not well received by local people, was recycling old news and that, as a result, there was no direct response necessary. RESOLVED to make no formal complaint as a Council, but to provide a link to the relevant website on the Town Council website to enable members of the community to make a formal complaint on the grounds of inaccuracy to the Press Complaints Commission, should they wish to do so.
Cllr Mrs B Grills proposed, Cllr K Harris seconded. Unanimous.
As per the above, if you wish to make a complaint about the article you can do so by clicking on the following link and filling out the online form: http://www.pcc.org.uk/complaints/form.html
