General Maintenance Assistant

Council: Camelford Town Council
Salary: SCP 7 (£20,443 per annum / £10.62 per hour)
Hours: Approx. average 37 hours per week. Negotiable.
Contract: One year contract – with potential permanent position following reorganisation of team structure in April 2023

Due to the expansion of services being provided, Camelford Town Council is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic person to assist the Maintenance and Grounds Manager.  The role encompasses working with the existing staff in a wide variety of tasks including mowing, strimming, planting, tree pruning, litter picking, general repairs and maintenance of Council assets. Council assets include Allotments, Cemetery, Orchard, Enfield park, play-areas, River Camel, Car parks, Public Toilets, seats and benches, various items of equipment etc.  The successful candidate would also be expected to be flexible, covering tasks whilst other staff are on holiday; such as cleaning toilets, putting up posters, and some general administrative duties. Also helping with Town events; such as Fun week, Camelford Show and the Winter festival. There would also be interaction with the general public – the candidate would be a representative of CTC and be expected to provide good customer service.

The successful candidate will have good communication skills, work well in a team, and enjoy practical and outdoor work.  Qualifications are desirable but not essential.  Approx. average of 37 hours per week, with seasonal variations.
