Full Council

What is Full Council?

‘Full Council’ is the term given to the Council as the Corporate Body. It is made up of 11 Councillors who are elected every 4 years. The Council discusses complex issues in its Committees and Working Groups, which recommend resolutions in order to ensure smooth, efficient Full Council meetings.

Council Committees/Working Groups:

  • Finance Working Group
  • Staffing Committee
  • Strategic and Economic Development Working Group
  • Estates and Properties Working Group
  • Events Working Group

What is Full Council’s Role?

Full Council meets twice a month (the 1st Thursday and 3rd Tuesday of each month) to discuss and debate matters arising from the Working Groups. It also tackles concerns or issues raised from residents and visitors to the Town and will occasionally assign a Committee to investigate in further detail.

Whilst some decision making is delegated to committees, Full Council is primarily responsible for the  important, key decisions which would affect the Town as a whole.

The Council employs 7 staff who work to deliver the Town Council services.
