At the end of the last lockdown in early December, Cornwall’s case rates stood at 18 cases per 100,000 and now we’re at 325.1 per 100,000. You can view the current COVID-19 data for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly on Cornwall Council’s website.

We have the largest number of positive cases we have seen in Cornwall at any time since the crisis began last year.

We need to bring these numbers down quickly, especially with the enhanced risk of the new highly transmissible strain of the virus, and to ensure our health and social care services are not overwhelmed in the weeks ahead.

Test and Trace Support Payments

Test and Trace Support Payments, which can provide much needed help for those who have been told to self-isolate through the NHS COVID-19 app or by NHS Test and Trace. You may be eligible to apply for a £500 Government Test and Trace Support Payment. https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/testandtracesupport

COVID vaccinations in Cornwall

The vaccination programme is coordinated nationally by the NHS. Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust opened the first vaccination clinics on 9 December, with the first GP surgeries beginning vaccinations on 15 December. Priorities groups for vaccination are based on advice from the independent Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) at a national level and individuals will be contacted when it is their turn to receive the vaccine. They should not contact their GP, local hospital or other local NHS services. This is a hugely positive step forward and we encourage everyone to have their vaccination when it’s their turn. To keep on protecting each other, we still all need to continue to wash hands, wear face coverings, maintain distance and also comply with Test and Trace requirements You can read more about vaccinations in the news releases from Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Health and Care Partnership: First COVID-19 vaccinations given in Cornwall https://cioshealthandcare.nhs.uk/first-covid-19-vaccinations-given-in-cornwall/ GPs in Cornwall being offering COVID-19 vaccine in the next stage of immunisation programme https://cioshealthandcare.nhs.uk/gps-in-cornwall-begin-offering-covid-19-vaccine-in-next-stage-of-immunisation-programme/ More GPs join getting back on path to normality with COVID-19 vaccines https://cioshealthandcare.nhs.uk/more-gps-join-getting-back-on-path-to-normality-with-covid-19-vaccines/ GP’s cracking idea for COVID-19 vaccine rollout https://cioshealthandcare.nhs.uk/gps-cracking-idea-for-covid-19-vaccine-rollout/
